Report accidents/Incidents

When you have suffered any injury in the course of your work or study at HKUST, you must report it to your supervisor for appropriate actions. This is for your own benefit as this can ensure that you will receive the necessary medical attention and that you are protected by appropriate insurance for your injury. As a legal requirement, work-related accidents also need to be reported to the Labour Department. Investigation may be conducted for the cause(s) of the accident so that appropriate measures can be introduced to prevent recurrence of similar accidents.

You should also report accident cases even though there seem to be no injury involved (accident without injury is normally termed incident). The information is useful for identifying safety problems which may cause injuries or other losses in the future.
