Fire Escape Routes

It is important that you know the fire escape routes in your workplaces. There should be floor plans posted at your workplace showing these routes. Take time to study them and actually walk them through.

If you happen to be in an unfamiliar area of the building in the event of a fire (or when hearing the fire alarm), follow directional exit signs to leave for a safe place immediately.

Fire Assembly Points

Certain areas have been designated as fire assembly points. It is advisable that colleagues and students should assemble at their specified assembly points as far as practicable. This is useful for the responsible personnel (departmental safety officers/fire wardens/supervisors etc.) to know the where-about of their colleagues/students in the event of fire.  The specific assembly points should have been indicated in the fire escape routes maps posted at the area.
